This pendant is made entirely of recycled sterling silver. The back plate features a heart cutout to reveal the surfite stone. The shark is ready to chomp a beautiful deep purple amethyst bullet cabachon and the teardrop surfite adds extra color and character.
Sharks have intrigued me most of my life and as a scuba diver and stand up paddle surfer they have extra meaning. When I found this surfboard resin, also known as "Surfite", I knew I needed to create a piece featuring a shark.
"Surfite" is made from the layered resin built up from the process of glassing surfboards. Each color can be layers from one or multiple surfboards. The layers build up to create these beautiful designs. Not only is it beautiful, but it also feels good to recycle it into something beautiful instead of throwing it into the landfill.
Pendant Measures: 2 1/2" tall x ~1/2" wide

Most of my pieces are handmade and created one of a kind- one at a time. Made entirely by me in my Northern California Studio.

I make all the jewerly myself! I usually start with sterling silver sheet and sterling silver wire (or Gold filled ) and forge it with hammers, saws, stamps,
hydraulic press, etc. and all most always, there is a silversmithing torch involved. I use genuine stones, unless noted and mainly sterling silver, but also love other metals like gold filled, gold bronze and I especially love pure gold when price isn't an issue for my customer. Sometimes I even play with brass or german silver when requested. I absolutely love making jewelry and am so happy I get to do this for a living. I hope you enjoy wearing it as much as I enjoyed making it. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to see additional photos. Thank you for looking!
